Carbohydrate is an excellent fuel source for marathon runners, however, most of us marathon runners have no consideration for what constitutes proper level of consumption. The fact is we over consume carbohydrate in the form of low quality, fast digesting white processed wheat based foods and sugar. Carbohydrate has it place in training and event day nutrition but we need to get to grips with the level of consumption.
